PCA at Ferma Forum 2019: more values for insurance consultancy

The recognition of the importance of risk management is growing among companies, but there is still more to do in order to improve a correct and responsible understanding – that’s the main feedback from the Ferma Forum 2019 in Berlin, where PCA is participating together with AUGUSTAS Risk Services under the brand of GAVIO GLOBAL RISK SOLUTIONS.

European Risk Managers are taking a more strategic role in their companies with increasing access to top levels and the board of directors, according to data by Ferma.

Two-thirds of the 634 respondents in the survey said they refer to the board of directors or to the management level, while over two-thirds (68%) are now involved in implementing the risk culture within their organization. Meanwhile, 62% of European Risk Managers are developing risk management as part of the corporate strategy.

The results confirm those of a former Ferma members’ survey which showed that Risk Managers now find it easier to get attention from top management.

Success in managing business risks requires an integrated approach – this is the 360 ​​° view of Gavio Global Risk Solutions: it is not possible that only the risk function or senior management are effective in detecting the sources of risk within a company.

The Ferma survey also highlighted digital and IT risks as an area in which Risk Managers demand greater collaboration at company level, confirming the need for closer relationships between risk management and IT functions. In fact, the members’ interviews also stated that they wanted additional skills and techniques, such as scenario analysis, to improve their understanding of the nature of the complex risks their companies face.
